According to the American Heritage Dictionary, a crisis is a crucial or decisive point or situation, a turning point, an unstable condition, as in political, social, or economic affairs, involving an impending abrupt or decisive change.

An emergency, according to the American Heritage Dictionary is a serious situation or occurrence that happens unexpectedly and demands immediate action.

During crisis and emergencies, plans and procedures are used to reduce injuries and loss of life. National preparedness includes:

  • Terrorist and alerts,
  • The Emergency Broadcast System which interrupts television and radio broadcast to notify of emergencies,
  • Emergency shut down procedures to stop natural gas, water and electricity from leaking,
  • Emergency evacuation plans and procedures,
  • Emergency Drills,
  • Weather watches
  • Emergency agencies like , and
  • Marshall Law.

j0199388Results of crisis and emergency from para-terrorism, are Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Chronic Stress Disorder (A Paranormal Psychological Term). The difference between Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Chronic Stress Disorder is:

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is when the person experiences an event, explosion, crash, etc. The senses are involved.

is when the fallout or residual effect of an event effects or affects the or a population.

An example of a major event in the United States of America that caused both of these Disorders on a massive level and started an economic crisis is 911, also called the New York Bombing and the Oklahoma City Bombing that caused a part of the country that is less likely to experience trauma, traumatized and unstable on a statewide level. The on set:

  1. The individuals that actually experienced the bombings: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
  2. The fallout or residual effects from the bombings- loss of jobs, loss of life, loss of emergency workers, deaths of children: .

As Americans, ways that we recover as individuals and families from crisis and emergencies include:

  • Counseling,
  • Recreational Activities,j0432787
  • Horticulture,
  • Exercise,
  • Hobbies,
  • Reading, and
  • Vacations.

In conclusion, crisis is a crucial turning point that is political, social, or economic and an emergency is an unexpected, serious situation. Both are included in National Preparedness and considered by the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and are results of crisis & emergencies. Counseling, recreational activities, hobbies, vacation, etc. can help elevate the effects and affects of these disorders, that are usually caused by something outside of our control.

Global Warming and Disease: When Will America Care?

Global warming is a part of climate change, about five years ago the Los Angeles Times showed some of the Middle East’s sand frozen. This has a major effect for health concerns. Recent reports from Africa, j0434097 which is adjacent to the Middle East has shown out-breaks of diseases that are highly contagious. Due to cultural differences, The Middle East is less likely to report to International agencies health concerns. These Specific diseases are a result contaminated water,  bacteria and fungus infections. The frozen Middle East sand causes an eco-system imbalance that triggers disease, illness, & death.

Global warming & climate changes, pollution, as well as the domestication of animals, are major contributors of “disease triggering”.

.com July 2009- Former Vice President Al Gore has a “climate crusade” to alert the American public about how serious our climate problems can become. Frank Newport, Gallup Poll Editor told U.S. News & World Report, “ It’s just not caught on.” The research from Gallup shows 41% of Americans believe the global warming fears have been exaggerated & only 1% to 2% cite environment as a big worry.

It is more important than ever to protect your eyes, face, neck, & ears wb051384 from harmful ultraviolet rays, some of which come from the deterioration of the ozone that also increases global warming. The U.S. military’s Operation Iraqi Freedom’s combat troops & embedded journalists wore special protective camouflage because of ultraviolet rays.

- 1H20 highlights the water problems in the Great Lakes area. They are not only global warming caused, but also climate changes and pollution, the changes in water levels also effects the shipping industry, commerce, and the job market in the area. The global warming problems can directly effect health, sun rays can be dangerous, prior to global warming issues we had skin cancer.

Television Media has allowed the Internet to report much of the news of today. Television news is rooted in personal relationships that are transmitted by the traditionally family oriented TV.

The need for environmental concerns to raise from 1% to 2% also reaches parenting and family issues. The parks, beaches, and other out door activities are environmental.

Accurately communicating the data for Gore’s “climate crusade” should improve the response to environmental issues. In order for the public to be aware of the problem, someone has to report it.

, now Somalia’s Parliament requests international assistance against terrorist. The Somalia Government has declared a state of emergency. The surrounding countries are awaiting the international communities response and framework to provide assistance.

The Shabab-one of the Islamist Militias and most fearsome threatened to bomb the buildings of Nairobi if Kenya intervenes. The purpose of these terrorist attacks, per the New York Times on Sunday June 21, 2009 is to “destabilize the region”.

This breakaway nation in the southeastern part of Ethiopia is known as nomadic and pastoral people. Now they are not only awaiting diplomatic recognition but also assistance from the international community. The 13 million people in Somalia are predominately Islamic and has been since the 1400s.

Terrorist and spend a lot of time and money, sometimes more than a countries national defense funding. Many are funded by illegal activities and use technology that is more advanced than most are use to seeing a an average bases. Terrorist use religion to recruit the youth, and Somalia is predominately Islamic. Para-terrorism is used when normal means of getting agreement for assistance is refused.

It is unfortunate that many terrorist and para-terrorist groups have more international influence than some countries. For example, the Taliban is the past governmental body of Afghanistan, it controlled Afghanistan from 1996-2001.

With no international recognition for peace, can Somalia get international assistance?

The Water

The Water

In Kampala, Uganda Eastern Africa, the drinking water has contained human waste and high-levels of dirt. The bacteria cause:

  • Cholera,
  • Dysentery, and
  • Diarrhea.

It is also 12 to 40 times higher for dirt and foreign matter than considered safe levels. Dr. William Muhairwe is the National Water & Sewerage Corporation head and states the water at the reservoir is safe. The people of Kampala, Uganda  routinely boil the water and that may be the reason for no major health reports. The water come from Lake Victoria and is treated at a reservoir, but is carried to home in substandard pipes that are 50 years old.

In Ethiopia, global warming and drought  are effecting animal herding. In Nairobi, Kenya Hippos are in the water treatment plant and terrify the local people.

In Southern Africa, the rainy season caused another outbreak of cholera. The city of Lusaka, Zambia is right next to Zimbabwe, who in late January of this year had its own cholera epidemic that killed bout 2,800 people.

Limited and contaminated water supplies mean:

  1. Widespread illness,
  2. Often fatal illness, and
  3. More likely these illness will occur in young children

Considered a breakaway nation, most of the Somali people live in Somaliland, the southeastern part of Ethiopia, known as the Ogaden region. The Somali people are nomadic and pastoral people.

In 2009 A.D., Somaliland still awaits diplomatic recognition from the international community. Somali people live in the “Horn of Africa” and have for about 3,000 years. According to archaeological and historical evidence, the Somali people are called clans.

Some of these clans can be traced back to the Arabian Peninsula and are associated with the Prophet Muhammad’s family, the Sharifs.

British, French, & Italians established territories in Somalia now Somaliland. The British and Italian territories combined and in 1960 became known as the independent Somali Democratic Republic. The

French territory has been known as Djibauti since its independence in 1977.

The population of the awaiting Somaliland is 13 million and has been predominately Islamic since the 1400s, and recently Islamic fundamentalism are stronger than the traditional Sufi mystical orders in Somaliland.

In conclusion, Somaliland, Ethiopia’s 13 million Somali people have been awaiting international recognition for 18 years. The civil conflict is gone, a good question would be- If you solve your civil unrest, how does the international community support peace?

Update 06/25/2009

According to the New York Times on Sunday June 21, 2009, after 18 years of peace,Somalia is under terrorist attack and requesting assistance from surrounding countries and the international community.
